Synopsis:

Take a poignant look into the broken heart and daily struggles of Christian college dean Drew McKinley. The story chronicles the turbulent first year in his desperate journey to understand God’s motives for the sudden death of his wife and his quest to find hope in his future.

Crossing his perilous path are Allison, a graduate student and new employee in the dean’s office, and Chris, the handsome but egotistical student senate president.

The road Drew must navigate is fraught with career upheaval, a reawakening heart and the struggle for forgiveness and restoration. Will Drew finish his journey to embrace the hope God offers, the love Allison shares and the guidance Chris needs, or will he turn his back on all three with catastrophic consequences?

My Review:

Embracing Hope surprised me with how much I grew to love the characters! These characters came to life. They stepped off the pages and waltzed right into my heart. I cheered for their successes and felt myself praying with them in their struggles. I didn’t expect to connect with this book, as much as  I did.

I have to be honest, as I picked up this book, I really wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it. But before you throw stones, let me tell you why. I love reading, reading is my ticket to travel. I’ve traveled around the world and back in time through the pages of beloved books. I work full-time at a Christian university and I knew that reading this book wouldn’t be much of a trip. However, I can say with all honesty that in reality anytime we view the world through another’s eyes we are essentially taking a journey. I share this with you because if you, are on the fence trying to decide if you should read this book, please take my advise and read this book. I am so very glad that I took a chance and read this delightful book!

Janell has penned a beautiful story. Rich in detail, with realistic, believable characters that linger with you long after closing the pages. The story could have ended several different ways, and not knowing what would happen, kept me turning pages late into the night.

Embracing Hope is a poignant, heartfelt story that you won’t soon forget. I give this stirring, emotional story 5 stars.

(I receive complimentary books for review from publishers, publicists, and/or authors, including Netgalley. I am not required to write positive reviews. The opinions I have expressed are my own.)
