Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Yes, everything else is worthless when compared to the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with Him.
I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ.

Philippians 3:8-9

Nothing is as important and your relationship with Jesus! It is easy to look at the things we do right, and say “look at this thing I’ve done.” But we are not good on our own. It is all God! Nothing we do is on our own power. Which is really good news! Because we all sin, we all need a savior. We can’t do it on our own!

I’m not enough. But He is enough!
And that is good enough for me!

  1. What a great reminder to realign my priorities. 🙂 I have three verses that I am focusing on for this year. Psalm 37:5-7.

“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act, making your righteousness shine like the dawn, your justice like the noonday. Be silent before the Lord and wait expectantly for Him; do not be agitated by one who prospers in his way, by the man who carries out evil plans.”

    1. Crystal, that is a beautiful and important reminder to wait on God. To not rush ahead, but to be silent, and wait expectantly for Him to act.
I especially like the “wait expectantly”. It lets us know that our waiting isn’t without reward of His action.

      1. God directed me to that passage in November and I have held it close every since. It is almost scary to wait expectantly, isn’t it? I at least feel a little scared at what He may or may not have in store.
