Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.
I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!
Today’s Thursday Encouragement:
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God,
that He may exalt you in due time,
casting all your care upon Him, for he cares for you.
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about
like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same
sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
1 Peter 5: 6-9
You may ask yourself, “How do I withstand the devil?” I’m glad you asked. Let’s also take a look at Ephesians 6:13 “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.”
If you continue reading in Ephesians 6 you will read about the full armor of God.
– Belt of truth
– Breastplate of righteousness
– Shoes of the Gospel of peace
– Shield of Faith
– Helmet of Salvation
– Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful…
In James 4:7 we read “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
Spend time every day with God. Read the Bible, pray, sing praises to God!
So when you feel discouraged, and downhearted, turn to God. Don’t listen to the lies that the devil whispers in your ear. Instead, hit your knees and pray. Praise Him in the storm and you will find true joy!
Now it is your turn!
What Bible verse is blessing you today?

Thank you for these encouraging words, Trisha! On cold winter days while I’m waiting for answers to prayers it’s tempting to be discouraged. But I will take heart today and remember these verses. Blessings to you! Carrie

Hi Jessica! Earlier this week, as I was trying to fall asleep, I prayed about what verses to share on Thursday. Then these verses came to my mind. I pray that you feel God’s loving embrace!

Love, love, love this Trisha! The verses you chose today are excellent. The hardest part for me is, “casting all your care upon Him, for he cares for you.” I like to control everything, which we all know is not the correct way to go about things. BUT, good news is I am working on leaning into God more!!! Sometimes I forget and start back into my controlling ways, but He is helping me become a better version of myself…slowly.

From a young age, kids are taught to learn skills and be independent. It’s difficult to turn around and just let go and not do things yourself. It’s something I too have to make a conscious decision to do.

Thank you for this wonderful encouraging post! A verse I read this morning that I have been thinking on today, is from Job 36:7 “He does not withdraw His eyes from the righteous…” What a faithful, kind God we love!!!

These are great verses! God not only tells us to stand fast but he tells us HOW to do it! He gives us all we need and the Holy Spirit to help us understand it all! Thanks!
