Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Waiting on the Lord isn’t always easy. Our society is always in a hurry. We have subconsciously been programmed to rush. Being in a hurry doesn’t help us at all. We often miss out on life’s most simple pleasures. We constantly cram more and more into our day until we are worn to a frazzle. At the end of the hectic day, we drop into bed and our minds are often still going so fast that it takes awhile to slow them down so we can fall asleep.

Thus, waiting for someone else to act, when we are so very inclined to take the proverbial bull by the horns and make things happen, is not only an act of faith but also a near impossible feat.

My friend, this is exactly what we are called to do. Wait on the Lord. This is the lesson that God has been teaching me this past week, and I wanted to share it with you.

The verse goes on to tell us, that our heart will rejoice in God because we have trusted in His holy name.

So, while you are waiting, there are two things you can do. Are you ready?

Two goals:
– Rejoycing
– Trust

It sounds simple enough. But we can’t do it alone. Take a moment in prayer, and ask God to help you wait. Ask Him to help you wait while rejoicing and also to wait while trusting in His perfect plan!

Now it is your turn!

What Bible verse is blessing you today?

  1. Love “For our heart shall rejoice in Him, because we have trusted in His holy name.” It is hard to wait, and then choose to rejoice & trust Him. I read this morning: “Do not My words do good to the one walking uprightly?” Micah 2:7b I love that God’s words do good to me!

  2. Trisha, this is a great post and a wonderful reminder. Rejoice and trust. I love the rejoice part. The trust part is the harder part for me. But, you’re right. I need to slow down and let God do! 😊❤

  3. Oh man, waiting is something I am not good at, at all! Thank you for this! We all need to slow down and let the Lord do things in His timing, not ours!

  4. Definitely a timely reminder. My family is currently house hunting and the process has taken longer than we expected. At the moment I’m doing okay, but I’ve had some moments of impatience, for sure. I’ve come to the conclusion that patience is a lesson I’ll be learning for the rest of my life. 😉
