Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive,
and abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.

Psalms 86:5

I just love this verse because it is a beautiful picture of God. “He is good and ready to forgive”.

Many see God as an angry judge. They think of the God who sent a great flood that destroyed the entire earth, the God that destroyed a city with fire from Heaven, drowned a Pharaoh and his army beneath the red sea. Yes, God did those things as well.

But most of all, God desires to have you and me in His family. He wants a relationship with us. He wants to give forgiveness. We need only come to Him and ask.

Whatever it is that is holding you back, God already knows. He’s just waiting for you to give it to Him so He can wash you whiter than snow (Isaiah 1:18).

Now it is your turn!

What Bible verse is blessing you today?

  1. I am currently focusing on this verse: “Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy; without holiness no one will see the Lord.” Hebrews 12:14

  2. So, it’s been a really tough two weeks. I’ve been trying so hard to do right by God…no anger, no fists in the air, no blame. I know God’s the Boss. I know God allows things for reasons we may never know until we get to Heaven. But tonight, the night before my dad’s funeral, I failed. I got overwhelmed, frustrated by my whiny daughter, and I yelled at God … hard. I’m so grateful for your verse choice today. I immediately apologized to God and asked for forgiveness. But your verse choice feels like God telling me that because I came to Him and apologized, He’s forgiven me. His mercy truly knows no bounds!

    1. Oh, my sweet friend! I’m so sorry that you are going through this awful valley of pain. God understands!!! He’s upset too! He’s upset with the devil. God has broad shoulders, big enough to carry our grief.
Sin did this awful thing. And while we don’t understand we can know without a shadow of a doubt that God will put it all to right in the end!!!
Sending you love and hugs and lots of prayers. ❤️
