About ‘Waiting For His Return’:

The year is 1864 and the Civil War rages on. British born James Galloway, a special artist for Harper’s Weekly, travels with the Union troops, sketching battle scenes to bring war news home to those in the North. It’s dangerous work, but he is committed to the Union cause. After being captured and spending several months in a confederate prison camp, he finally escapes and travels north, hoping to reach the Union lines. But he is attacked by a bushwhacker and left for dead at the side of the road near the Thornton’s home.

Rachel Thornton, a kind-hearted doctor’s daughter, takes James in and nurses him while he recovers. As they get to know each other, her feelings for James grow, but she has already lost one man she loves in the war. How can she give James her heart, when she knows he may become another casualty?

Cover Reveal & Giveaway – A Mother for His Family by Susanne Dietze

I’m super-duper excited to be teaming up with Susanne Dietze for the cover reveal for her latest book, “A Mother for his Family” scheduled to hit the shelves in January 2017.

7834895

Susanne Dietze began writing love stories in high school, casting her friends in the starring roles. Today, she’s the author of several historical romances who’s seen her work on the ECPA and Publisher’s Weekly Bestseller Lists for Inspirational Fiction. Married to a pastor and the mom of two, Susanne lives in California and loves fancy-schmancy tea parties, the beach, and curling up on the couch with a costume drama and a plate of nachos. You can visit her at:

Web Page // Facebook // Twitter // Goodreads // Pinterest

About the book:

Lady Helena Stanhope’s reputation is in tatters…and she’s lost any hope for a “respectable” ton marriage. An arranged union is the only solution. But once Helena weds formidable Scottish widower John Gordon, Lord Ardoch, and encounters his four mischievous children, she’s determined to help her new, ever-surprising family. Even if she’s sure love is too much to ask for.

All John needs is someone to mother his admittedly unruly brood. He never imagined that beautiful Lady Helena would be a woman of irresistible spirit, caring and warmth.
Or that facing down their pasts would give them so much in common. Now, as danger threatens, John will do whatever it takes to convince Helena their future together—and his love—are for always.

Dietze - Mother for his Children

Susanne shared her Inspiration behind the cover in saying: “I love marriage of convenience stories and always wanted to write one! It’s always fun for me to read a book where the wedding happens at the beginning and things progress out of order with the couple: marriage first, then love.

I was able to offer three scene suggestions for the cover, and the wedding was my first choice so I’m thrilled the amazing art department at Harlequin chose to work with it. It’s a hopeful scene, since both the hero and heroine, John and Helena, think getting married will be the answer to their problems: he needs a mother for his three kids and niece, and she needs a respectable home.

However, they learn right away that saying “I do” might provide solutions to their immediate issues, but not all of them, and forging a family can be a challenge—one that both breaks and heals their hearts!

I love looking at them in this scene and knowing they have adventures ahead that will bring them closer together!”

I simply love reading Susanne’s stories, and I am eagerly anticipating being able to dig into her newest book!

For those who have read Susanne’s earlier book “The Reluctant Guardian“, you will recognize a familiar character! Click here to see my review of The Reluctant Guardian.

Cover Reveal & Interview with Sarah Monzon – The Esther Paradigm

Welcome, I am super excited to be teaming up with Sarah Monzon for the cover reveal of her latest book The Esther Paradigm. While this new book is a stand-alone, those who have read Sarah’s other books may notice a commonality with her debut book The Isaac Project. I’m happy to have Sarah with us today to share some inside details about The Ester Paradigm. But first, let’s take a look at this eye-catching cover!

TheEstherParadigm

Hi Sarah, I’m getting excited about your new book, “The Esther Paradigm”. This cover is gorgeous. The lovely bride and the window frame around her. It sure captures my eyes and makes me want to know what her story is about.

Trisha:  Please tell us about “The Esther Paradigm”, what is the story about?

Sarah:  So you don’t get my canned “It’s a book about people who do stuff and fall in love” answer, I’ll just give you the blurb.

Hannah Pratt dreams of starting a school for the Bedouin clan she grew up with as a missionary kid, and finally, her hopes are coming true. But shortly after she returns to the desert from her college years in the U.S., she discovers her parents have received threats from their Muslim neighbors. As the danger escalates, Hannah finds she’s in the middle of a battle no one seems to understand. She must decide to what lengths she’ll go to stay faithful to the mission to which God has called her. Even if it costs her everything.

As sheikh, Karim Al-Amir feels the weight of responsibility as the leader of his people. When a mysterious illness ravishes the clan’s flocks and threatens to destroy their centuries-old way of life, locals believe the American doctors and their daughter, his childhood friend, Hannah, are to blame. Karim must do something to keep them safe—even if the only solution can be found within marriage vows.

In a society where the line is drawn between us and them, Christianity is outlawed, and foreigners are mistrusted, will their union heal wounds or inflict the final fatal blow?

-casablanca-morocco-front-doorsTrisha:  What was your inspiration for this lovely cover?

Sarah:  Hmm…I’m not sure I had an inspiration, per se. In fact, I created three or four different mock-ups that didn’t fit for one reason or another. I only had one thing I knew I wanted, and that was a bride on the cover. This book is a stand alone, but it does have the same feel as my debut, The Isaac Project. Because they are both inspired by biblical stories, I wanted to loosely brand them together and did that through the titles and the bride. Besides that, I wanted something that would hint at the setting and the flavor of the book. Something that would immediately grab the reader and make them go, “Ooooh! I want to read that!”

Trisha:  This book obviously isn’t set in the US. Where exactly is the setting?the-window-bible-studies

Sarah:  Good question! And one I’m not answering. Haha. Actually, it’s never specified in the book. A bit of a mystery. The only thing I can say is that it is set in the 10/40 window–the region 10 degrees south and 40 degrees north of the equator where the majority of those un-reached by the Gospel live. This includes North Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. In a lot of these areas proselytizing and Christianity is illegal.

--princesses-wisdomTrisha:  What do you hope readers will learn when reading The Esther Paradigm?

Sarah:  I hope readers will come to it with an open heart. More than any of my books, this one wrote me more than I wrote it. There is a lot of diversity in the book. A lot of sensitive material not commonly found in a lot of Christian fiction currently on the market. I hope readers’ worldwide perspective will expand after reading the book. And, lastly, I hope readers turn the last page with a sense of enjoyment and contentment.

Trisha:  Thank you for sharing with us a little inside information today. One last question before you go: When can we look forward to reading The Esther Paradigm?

Sarah: You can pre-order it today for only .99 cents and it will automatically be downloaded to your kindle on November 2. =)

There wasn’t a question for this, but I wanted everyone to know that Trisha’s awesome hubby helped me out a bit with this cover. Thank you, Trisha’s hubby!!

Isabella Grayson, the eldest daughter of a wealthy, English newspaper magnate, longs to become a journalist, but her parents don’t approve. They want her to marry well and help them gain a higher standing in society. After she writes an anonymous letter to the editor that impresses her father, her parents reluctantly agree she can write a series of articles about aviation and the race to fly across the English Channel, but only if she promises to accept a marriage proposal within the year.

When James Grant, an aspiring aviator, crashes his flying machine at the Grayson’s new estate, Bella is intrigued. James is determined to be the first to fly across the Channel and win the prize Mr. Grayson’s newspaper is offering. He hopes it will help him secure a government contract to build airplanes and redeem a terrible family secret.

Across the Blue

The first line is:

Isabella Grayson’s shoes sank into the plush red carpet of Broadland’s south hall, and she released a soft sigh. What luxury!

Carrie Turansky shared with me the following: “I was able to give some input on the cover, helping to choose the model, the outfit, and finding just he right hat. We’ve worked with Darna Michie of East Angel Harbor Hats to design the hats for the photo shoots for my last three covers. She’s wonderful! This hat is perfect for 1909 Edwardian England. The airplane featured on the cover shows how fragile they were, and it makes you realize how brave James Drake was to attempt a flight across the English Channel to France. The white Cliffs of Dover play an important role in the story, so I was really pleased to see them used at the background. I love the cover and I’m very grateful for the design team at WaterBrook!

Cover Reveal – “The Lacemaker” by Laura Frantz

Laura Frantz has a new book coming out and I have been checking daily to find the cover of her newest book The Lacemaker.  The expected publication is January 2, 2018

Laura has shared with me that the gown on the cover is a real historic gown, from a museum collection!

Upon a little research of my own, I discovered that the dress was featured as part of a collection at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, in the “Fashion in Bloom” collection.

Dress-bodice

The fabric of this gown was patterned in the Rococo style which was prevalent between the 1740s–1770s. Characterized by a retreat from naturalism, these fabrics with their rich colors and meanderings of flowering vines and patterned areas reminiscent of lace or white work were a favorite of predominately upper class women.

This ensemble consists of a floor-length dress that opens in the front to reveal a stomacher at the top and a petticoat below. Wide side hoops were worn under the skirt to create additional width. Gowns made in this style known as sack, where box pleated fabric flows from the nape of the neck to the floor, were fashionable for formal occasions.

“The Lacemaker” (Synopsis):

When colonial Williamsburg explodes like a powder keg on the eve of the American Revolution, Lady Elisabeth “Liberty” Lawson is abandoned by her fiance and suspected of being a spy for the hated British. No one comes to her aid save the Patriot Noble Rynallt, a man with formidable enemies of his own. Liberty is left with a terrible choice. Will the Virginia belle turned lacemaker side with the radical revolutionaries, or stay true to her English roots? And at what cost?

Historical romance favorite Laura Frantz is back with a suspenseful story of love, betrayal, and new beginnings. With her meticulous eye for detail and her knack for creating living, breathing characters, Frantz continues to enchant historical fiction readers who long to feel they are a part of the story.

The Reveal:

Ta-Da!

Isn’t it lovely?  The detail on the lace and in the fabric of the dress is stunning!
I can’t wait to see the cover in person and hold the book in my hand.

About the Author:

laura-frantz-2016I was born and raised in Kentucky, living first in Ashland, Mammoth Cave, Bowling Green, and then Lexington. But my heart has always been in Berea, Madison County, the place my family has resided since the 18th-century. I came to know Christ there at the age of 12, was baptized, and spent my childhood roaming through the woods and swimming in the rivers of my books.

My earliest memories are of the public library, standing in front of shelves filled with those little biographies of famous historical figures like Daniel Boone and George Washington and Sacajawea. I began scribbling stories at age 7 and thankfully never stopped. My passion then and now is history and all the wonders of past centuries.

I attended college at Denison University in Ohio and also in England, living in a manor/castle and studying the American Revolution from the British perspective. Shakespeare and 18th-century literature form the backbone of my English degree. Strangely enough, I only took one creative writing class.

It was never a desire of mine to be published. I simply love to write for the sheer joy of writing – and that was enough. But as Proverbs 16:9 says, “The heart of a man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.”
