His Encouragement: Biblical Inspiration for your Thursday

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God,
that He may exalt you in due time,
casting all your care upon Him, for he cares for you.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about
like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.

Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same
sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.

1 Peter 5: 6-9

You may ask yourself, “How do I withstand the devil?”  I’m glad you asked. Let’s also take a look at Ephesians 6:13 “Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.”

If you continue reading in Ephesians 6 you will read about the full armor of God.
– Belt of truth
– Breastplate of righteousness
– Shoes of the Gospel of peace
– Shield of Faith
– Helmet of Salvation
– Sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful…

In James 4:7 we read “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.”
Spend time every day with God. Read the Bible, pray, sing praises to God!

So when you feel discouraged, and downhearted, turn to God. Don’t listen to the lies that the devil whispers in your ear. Instead, hit your knees and pray. Praise Him in the storm and you will find true joy!

Now it is your turn!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

God has given each of you a gift from His great variety of spiritual gifts.
Use them well to serve one another.

Do you have the gift of speaking?
Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you.

Do you have the gift of helping others?
Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies.

Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ.
All glory and power to Him forever and ever! Amen.

1 Peter 4: 10-11

It’s easy to care too much about what people think of us. We become so hurried that we forget why we’re really here. We’re here to glorify God, not ourselves.

Sometimes we need to slow down long enough to “Stop and consider the wondrous works of God” (Job 37:14)

Let us stop worrying so much about what others think, and instead reflect on the infinite beauty of our Creator and Savior. In light of Him, everything else pales in comparison.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Yes, everything else is worthless when compared to the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For His sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with Him.
I no longer count on my own righteousness through obeying the law; rather, I become righteous through faith in Christ.

Philippians 3:8-9

Nothing is as important and your relationship with Jesus! It is easy to look at the things we do right, and say “look at this thing I’ve done.” But we are not good on our own. It is all God! Nothing we do is on our own power. Which is really good news! Because we all sin, we all need a savior. We can’t do it on our own!

I’m not enough. But He is enough!
And that is good enough for me!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities,
nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38-39

As we look toward a New Year, this reminder that we are God’s children, and nothing can separate us from His love brings me comfort. To know that I am His. Bought and paid for by His blood. Nothing can take me out of His hands.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given;
and the government shall be upon
his shoulder,
and his name shall be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and of peace
there will be no end,
on the throne of David and over his kingdom,
to establish it and to uphold it
with justice and with righteousness
from this time forth and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this.
– Isaiah 9:6 & 7

To our lost world He gave all He could give. The greatest gift that could ever be given! He didn’t wait until we asked. He didn’t wait until we realized we needed a savior. While we were still sinning, and lost, He left the glory and splendor of heaven. He came to our dark world as a helpless baby. He came to save us. We are helpless, we cannot save ourselves. He paid the price that we could never pay.

Daily commit your life to Him. Don’t wait another moment. He loves you more than you can imagine.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

When I consider Your heavens,
the work of Your fingers,
The moon and the stars, which
You have ordained,

What is man that You are mindful of him,
and that son of man that You visit him?

For You have made him a little
lower than the angels,
and You have crowned him with glory and honor.

O Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth!

Psalms 8:3-5 & 9

When you take the time to look at all the wondrous things that God has created it is pretty humbling to realize that above all those things, He thinks of us! And not just to think of us as an after-thought, but as the pinnacle of all of His creation, the very best.
O Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Sing, O heavens!
Be joyful, O earth!
And break out in singing, O mountains!

For the Lord has comforted His people,
And will have mercy on His afflicted.

– Isaiah 49:13

We all need comfort at one time or another. Often we search for comfort in all kinds of places — escape into the latest TV sitcom, food, internet, books.

Today’s verse reminds me that God promises to give me His comfort. And that comfort is unlike anything mentioned above. It is not temporary, or fleeting. It is perfect comfort, perfect peace.

Turn to God today, and pour out your hurt in prayer. He is always there for you!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

“I will bless the LORD at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.
Taste and see that the LORD is good.
Oh, the joys of those who take refuse in Him!”
Psalm 34:1,8

This Thanksgiving we have so many things to be Thankful for. I found this verse to be a reminder to keep his praise on my lips daily. Even when things may not be going right, it is important to always praise God.

His Encouragement: Biblical Inspiration for your Thursday

Good Morning, Friends! Here we are at anther Thursday, and another opportunity to share with you an encouraging verse from the Bible. I welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Have you not known? Have you not heart? The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.

Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall,

but those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.
— Isaiah 40: 28-31

When I am feeling tired, I need only remember that God is never tired. He never grows weary. He can carry my burdens, I only need to give them to Him.

Today, instead of trying to take care of everything yourself; Why not give it ALL to God?
