But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith,
praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God,
looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Jude 1: 20-21

So what is this saying you might ask… It’s reminding us the importance of daily maintaining our life with God, and encouraging us to continue to look for Jesus’s soon return.

I encourage you today sweet friend to stay close to Jesus, make time for Him in your daily life. Be ready, and keep looking for Jesus’ soon return (Matthew 25:13).

Do not be conformed to this world,
but be transformed by the renewing of your mind,
that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

Romans 12:2

Friends, it is so easy to find ourselves so wrapped up in what is going on in the world, that we forget what we are supposed to be doing. We are constantly bombarded by media and busyness.

Take time today, to schedule for yourself daily time to spend with God. Time reading your Bible, singing praises and praying! I promise that it will be time well spent and that you will find your peace returned.

but if you return to Me, and keep My commandments and do them,
though some of you were cast out to the farthest part of the heaves,
yet I will gather them from there,  and bring them to the place
which I have chosen as a dwelling for My name.

Nehemiah 1: 9

In the book of Nehemiah, we see that God’s people have strayed. Jerusalem is in ruins, the people are scattered. They have forgotten God. The priest Nehemiah prays to God for the Israelites. In that prayer, he references another prayer, one from Moses.

I find that it still applies today. A reminder to us all that even though we may stray, God in his infinite love and mercy will forgive, if we turn away from what we are doing and return to Him, and follow His commandments.

Dear friends, God is waiting with arms open wide! He has already chosen you. Won’t you choose Him?

Blessed be God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed
us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ,
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world,
that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love

Ephesians 1: 3 & 4

Before even a molecule of this earth was created, God chose us to be His children! What an amazing thought to ponder! Our Father gives us life and everything we need for this life in Christ Jesus.

Only Jesus can give us a peace that surpasses all understanding and a joy that transcends any circumstance.

May the God of hope fill you with all
joy and peace as you trust in Him,
so that you may overflow with hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 15:13

This has been a rough week. I’ve felt that I give and give and give and then give some more, to the point where I feel empty of strength to give another drop. My prayer last evening as I finished my evening devotion, was “fill my cup Lord, for I feel empty.” I have struggled to find joy. To be honest, I wasn’t even going to write a post today, because I had nothing to give.

But then, this morning when I picked up my Bible and read my devotions, this verse jumped out at me. A promise from God that He will fill us with joy and peace that we will overflow with hope. Just as I had been praying!

I’ll be honest, I still feel tired. I still don’t feel full. But I trust that God is using this to help me turn to Him more, and using this to gently help me share the struggle with others. Because it is in pressing together as a community that we can lift each other up and become a blessing to others.

His Encouragement #36

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

But I have trusted in Your mercy;
My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation.

I will sing to the Lord, because He has
delt bountifully with me.

Psalms 13: 5 & 6

It isn’t always easy to surrender ourselves, to allow someone else to take the lead, to make the decisions. However, that is just what God wants us to do. He askes us to surrender our will to His. And not just once, but continually.

I have learned that the more I surrender and trust in Him the easier it becomes. The God I’m surrendering to isn’t a stranger. I do not fear that He will abandon me, or fail me. I’m confident that God is my Father, and my mighty Warrior, and King. God is good and trustworthy. He loves beyond measure, and He is faithful to keep His promises.

God invites us all to a life of surrender, to trust him with open hands. To give Him our greatest struggles and our smallest details. He is big enough to handle it. He is faithful and loving.
