His Encouragement #34

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God,
and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)

This week I dropped my son off at school for the very first time. His first 6 years of school have been homeschool. We are in uncharted waters (for us). The excitement is running high and yes a bit of anxiousness too.

We pulled up to the school, I parked the car and then we had a prayer together for his day and this new experience. I felt at peace and less anxious. We walked in together and found his desk. I took another picture (he said, “Mom” in that tone that said, no more photos please). So I gave him one last hug and walked away knowing that God is always with him!

Life is full of change. Of new experiences. Some change is exciting, some frightening. But whatever change you are facing I’d like to take this moment to remind you that if we invite God into our daily life, our changes, and emotions. He will walk right beside us and give us peace. May you always remember to invite God to walk with you daily!

His Encouragement #33

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you
that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain,
that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.

John 15:16

This week my son and husband are at an International Pathfinder Camporee. There are over 57,000 children and adults in attendance from all over the world, representing over 100 countries.  Similar to boys or girl scouts, Pathfinders learn outdoor skills, Bible knowledge and how to be good citizens of their communities. It is the Youth program of the Seventh-day Adventist church.

Their theme for this week of Camporee is Chosen. They will be studying the life of David this week through Bible lessons, skits, and songs. There are community outreach projects, and opportunities to meet others from around the world and make new friends.

Last evening the speaker talked about how God has chosen each and every one of us. Even when we may feel invisible and small, no one is invisible to God. He is El Roi. The God who sees me (Gen 16:13).

Dear friends, God sees you, He has chosen you! He has a wonderful plan for your life! In the verse, it says that God wants us to bear fruit. That means that He wants us to share His love with others, to bring other’s to know God. Ask God to help you share your faith, your love of Him with someone else, and be prepared for the amazing things that will happen next!

His Encouragement: #32

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love.
If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love,
just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.

These things I have spoken to you,
that My joy may remain in you and that your joy may be full.

John 15: 9-11

This has been a tough week for me. Lots of change, lots of stress. I have lost where I should be keeping my focus on more than one occasion. Then in my daily devotions, I found this verse that I’m sharing with you today.

Joy is not automatic. It is a discipline, a daily choice we must make. Our true joy is incomplete without Jesus. We all face a multitude of daily stressors, but we can choose joy. We can pray for God to help us find joy.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Shout for joy, you heavens;
rejoice, you earth;
burst into song, your mountains!
For the Lord comforts his people and will have
compassion on his afflicted ones.

Isaiah 49:13 (NIV)

May this verse bring you joy, as you remember that even in your suffering and affliction, God will comfort you. He does not forget you. He loves you!

As David wrote in Psalms, “You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy. -Psalm 30:11”

Finding joy in hard times isn’t easy. But if we turn our focus outward, and toward God, He will fill our hearts with abundant joy. Praise Him in the storm!

His Encouragement: #30

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all you stars of light!

Praise the Lord from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all the depths;

Kings of the earth and all peoples:
Princes and all judges of the earth;
Both young men and maidens;
Old men and children.

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
For His name alone is exalted;
His glory is above the earth and heaven.

Psalms 148: 3, 7, 11 – 13

Do you remember last week we talked about how vast the heaves are, and how many billions upon billions of stars there are, and the billions of galaxies? (click here to see last week’s post).

Did you know that even the stars in the heavens praise God? How about the great Whales that swim in the oceans? Yes, they too sing praises to God!

Do you recall the story of Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem? When all the people were praising and waving palm fronds, some of the Pharisees called out to Jesus and told Jesus to rebuke those that were praising. He replied with this verse (Luke 19:40) “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”

How can we keep silent when all the earth gives praise to His great name?

I recently ran across this youtube video from Louie Giglio talking about the Stars and Whales singing praises to God. Take a listen!

His Encouragement: #29

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds.
Psalms 36:5 (NLT)

Have you ever stood outside at night time and gazed at the stars? If you are someplace very dark, with little to no electric lights to mar your view, the array of stars is breathtaking! There are billions of stars, more than we could even begin to count, in just our own galaxy.

When scientists look through their telescopes they have found hundreds of billions of other galaxies. We have only scratched the surface of how vast space really is.
God’s love for us is even bigger than that!

If you enjoy watching video clips I found one on youtube (click here) that will give you a quick visual representation to just how tiny Earth is and how vast the reaches of the heavens are!

Take a moment to read the verse again and just allow it to settle into your heart. God, the creator of the universe loves you!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good!
For His mercy endures forever.

Psalms 107:1

Every day is a good day to praise God!  But I felt especially impressed to share this verse today. God is good! I am so very thankful for His tender mercy. Especially when I don’t deserve it. And I’m reminded that to have a character like God, I should also extend mercy to others, even when it’s not deserved.

Far not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you.
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

Friends, no matter what you are facing today, remember that God’s love is never shaken by trouble. We can take refuge in Him and know that we will have brighter days ahead.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.

Psalm 46:10 (NIV)

God is calling us to be still. To set aside time every day to spend with Him. Spend time reading the Bible, to spend time in prayer, and to spend time singing praises to His name.
True joy can be found at the feet of God!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

The Lord will fight for you,
and you shall hold your peace.

Exodus 14:14

Another version says “…and be still”
Oh, dear friends, how very often we rush ahead and try to do things on our own. I know I’m guilty of this. Another way to look at it is being wise in our own eyes. Thinking we know the best, and forging on. When God just wants us to wait. Let Him work. Let Him clear the path.
