His Encouragement: week #24

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness,
The power and the glory,
The victory and the majesty;
For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours;
Yours is the kingdom, O Lord,
And you are exalted as head over all.

1 Chronicles 29:11

Sometimes (dare I say; “often times”) life surprises us.  A medical diagnosis that you didn’t see coming, a tragic accident where a life is ended. These things surprise us. But they don’t surprise God. He knows the beginning and the end.

So when life throws you a curve ball, don’t panic. Just daily walk with God and He will lead you trough the surprises.

I’m thankful that God is in control and that I don’t need to worry.

His Encouragement: week # 23

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You;
Let them shout for joy, because You defend them;
Let those also who love Your name be joyful in You.

For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous;
With favor You will surround him as with a shield.

Psalm 5:11-12

We can rejoice because our trust is in God! We can rest assured that He will defend us, and protect us with His shield.

Now does this mean that trials won’t come? That our lives will be easy and free from pain and sorrow?

No, my friend. Trials will come. But the good news, is that we can hold on to God to lead us through those trials.

He has already won the battle! Stay close to Jesus! Choose Him every single day!

His Encouragement: week #22

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

But we have this treasure in earthen vessels,
that the excellence of the power may be
of God and not of us.

We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed;
we are perplexed, but not in despair;

persecuted, but not forsaken;
struck down, but not destroyed

II Corinthians 4:7-9

God calls us “His Treasure” because when He lives in us and we allow him to work in our lives, other’s see Him. It isn’t by our power, it’s by God’s power.

Difficulties and hardships will come, but God promises that He will be with us. We will never be alone. And no matter what happens, we won’t be destroyed. Because in the end, Jesus will return to take us home to live with Him forever!

Though trials come, God is with us!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness,
who has shone in our hearts to give the light of knowledge
of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

II Corinthians 4:6

The God who created the light, created the earth and all living things, and created us. He has shone His light of love into our hearts so that we might share that with others. The verse just before this talks about us being bond-servants for Jesus’ sake.

If you are feeling discouraged, give that to God. He has created you to love, and He will fill your heart to overflowing. So much so that you can’t help but share that with those around you.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

“He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justly, To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8

Did you wake up this morning wondering what it is that God is calling you to do? The verse in Micah 6:8 outlines it well. A short four letter word. We are called to love.

Love requires freedom. The freedom to give love and the freedom to receive love.

Love is from God. (1 John 4:8)
God’s Love is everlasting, His love endures forever. (Jeremiah 31:3)

God loves all people! There isn’t anyone God loves more or less than another. (Romans 5:8)

People will see God in us, when they see how we love (John 13:35)

My daily prayer is that God will fill me with His perfect love, so that it will spill over and flow to everyone that He brings along my daily path. That other’s will see God’s love for them through me. Because I can’t do it on my own.

His Encouragement: Week #19

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

For we are God’s masterpiece.
He has created us anew in Christ Jesus,
so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.

Ephesians 2:10

Last week we looked at the two verses before this. We learned that salvation is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for good things we have done. We are sinners, there is nothing inherently good in us. The good comes from God, not us.

Now, one of my favorite verses. We are God’s masterpiece! God took us from where we were, sitting in the filth of our sin, and He has remade us anew in Jesus, so we can do the good things that He planned for us.

He could have left us in our sin. He could have said, “Oh that Trisha, she messed up one to many times, she is too filthy, now she’s on her own.”  I am so thankful, that even though I stink with my sin, God still loves me. He remade me in Jesus. So that one day when I stand before the throne of God, He won’t see my sin, He will only see Jesus.

I am not good. But Jesus is good and that is good enough for me!

His Encouragement: Week #18

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

God saved you by His grace when you believed.
And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.

Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done,
so none of us can boast about it.

Ephesians 2: 8 & 9

On our own, left to our own devices, we are not good. It is only God in us, that is good! No matter how hard we try, we can never be good enough. We can never earn our salvation. Sin has so corrupted us, that we are but filthy rags. (Isaiah 64:6)

This can be a difficult truth to swallow. We try to be good, we do our best to make good choices. We may see a brother or sister in need and step in to help. The temptation is to say, I did that good thing! We must remember that the good is God working in our lives. Take time today to give God the glory for the good! When someone praises you for something good, give it to God!

Be sure to return next week, for verse 10!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun
a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;

Philippians 1:6

Sometimes you start down a path, and you are sure that God led you this direction, but then you feel alone. The path seems less visible than was when you began. Rest assured, that God doesn’t leave things unfinished. If He brought you to something, He will continue to work it out for good.

His Encouragement: Biblical Inspiration for your Thursday (week #16)

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may
have peace. In the world you will have tribulation;
but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

In the verse, Jesus is talking to his disciples. He’s telling them of things to come, things they do not understand. He wants them to know that there will be trials and tribulations, but to remember that He has already overcome the world.

This message is in no less important to us today. There have been and will continue to be trials and tribulations. There will be things that we don’t understand. But God doesn’t want us to worry. He wants us to rest in the knowledge that He has already overcome the world. Victory belongs to God!

My friends, I don’t know what trials you may be facing today, or what tribulations lie in your future; but my prayer for you is that whatever may come, that you remember that God has already won! Give your burdens to Him, and rest. He’s already won the battle!

His Encouragement: Biblical Inspiration for your Thursday (week # 15)

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us,
that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world
does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been
revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed
we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

1 John 3: 1 & 2

Right at first I’m reminded of the song I learned when I was young. Scripture set to music is a fantastic method for helping you remember Bible verses!

Digging deeper into this verse we see a reminder of God’s love for us. He didn’t love us because of anything we did. He bestowed His love on us, because He longs for us to belong to Him.

The world doesn’t understand His love, because it doesn’t see it in us. The world doesn’t see it in us, because we don’t always show God’s love like we should. Too often we have conditions to our love.

As a child of God, It is my prayer that God will help me show His love more fully to everyone He brings to cross my path.
