His Encouragement #42

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Blessed is the man who trust in the Lord,
and whose hope is in the Lord.

For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters,
which spreads out its roots by the river,
and will not fear when heat comes;

But its leaf will be green,
and will not be anxious in the year of drought,
Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

Jeremiah 17: 7-8

These verses paint a beautiful picture of what trusting in God looks like. If we are rooted in Jesus and trusting Him, we need not fear!

His Encouragement #41

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother’s womb.

I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.

Psalms 139: 13-14

Often we marvel at God’s creation. A beautiful sunrise, a powerful waterfall, the wide variety of colorful plants and animals. All to often we forget that we are created in God’s image. Crafted by His hands. The very breath in our lungs, He breathed into ours. We are works of art, created by God!

His Encouragement: #40

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

This week I have been helping my son learn his memory verse. Aside from reading it every evening, and reciting it together, I thought it would be fun to make a few Bible verse images to give him a picture visual with the verse. When it came time for me to write this post, this verse was the first one that popped into my head.

When you think of love, what first comes to mind?
Do you think of God, your family? Or maybe you think of something you love to do? Bike Riding, Hiking, Reading? Possibly you think of a food you love to eat?

We use the word “Love” so much, for so many things, that it can easily lose its importance.

Let’s take moment and look at the next several verses in 1 John 4:

“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” (vs. 8)

“In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.” (vs. 9)

“In this is love, not that we love God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.” (vs. 10)

“Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.” (vs. 11)

Wow! There is a lot to unpack there. Verse 8 tells us the God is love. Then it goes on to describe His love in verse 9 by telling us that his love was acted out toward us by God giving His only Son so that we [sinners] might live. And if that wasn’t enough, it goes on to remind us in verse 10 that God did this not because we loved Him, not because we asked this of Him, not even because we did something to deserve His favor, but because He is love. Then in verse 11, we are reminded that we should also share that love that God gives us, to others. Not just those we care about, or those that are nice to us, not even to only those who deserve it. We are called to love everyone. That isn’t always easy, but remember, you don’t have to do it alone.

Ask God to help you love those that He loves!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Create in me a clean heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me away from Your presence,
and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation,
and uphold me by Your generous Spirit.

Psalms 51:10-12

When a computer gets bogged down and slows, or when it gets a bug, often the only way to fix the problem is to wipe the hard drive and reset the computer. I don’t know about you, but sometimes I just need a reset. I can’t do it myself, I need God to clean my heart, to renew and restore.

His Encouragement: week# 38

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe
is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the
only begotten Son of God,

And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world,
and men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.

John 3:16, 18 & 19

Everyone knows John 3:16. But have you taken the time to read the verses after? Did you catch that last verse? “men loved darkness rather than the light.” Many will read that and think, “that doesn’t pertain to me, because I do not even like darkness.”

Let’s take a look back at the very beginning. A story I’m sure you are familiar with, the story of the fall. Adam and Eve, new creations, perfect, flawless, walked with God in the perfect Garden. But, then they ate the fruit, and things suddenly changed.

Let’s look together at Genesis 3:10
“So he [Adam] said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked, and I hid myself.”

Did you catch it? Right there, Adam & Eve were ashamed, and they ran to the darkness to hide. If we are honest we all have things about ourselves that we are ashamed of, things we hide in the darkness, in the shadows.

God sees all of it. Nothing is hidden from Him.

Dear friends, God loves us! He gave His only Son to die for us. Give Him the things you are ashamed of, the things you hide in the shadows and be free in the light of His love!

His Encouragement: week# 37

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Every word of God is pure;
He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him.

Proverbs 30:5

God’s words are true, sincere, with no mixture of error, certain of accomplishment. When something is pure, often is is refined by fire. Every declaration of God in the Bible, is pure, as if refined in the fire.

God is a shield. He is perfect protection to all those who, relying on the word of revelation, fly to him for refuge. The knowledge of God is obtained in two ways – by his revelation in his Word, and by the experience of those who trust in him.

My prayer for you today is that you find time today to study God’s word. That you spend time in prayer, and spend quite time listening.

His Encouragement: week #36

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

I just finished a Bible reading plan in my YouVersion Bible app called “He Calls You Beautiful.” This short, 5-day plan focused primarily on verses found in the Song of Solomon. The verse I’m sharing with you today is a verse in that reading plan.

What stood out to me in this verse is the beginning. “Set me as a seal upon your heart,”
I’m reminded that God has set His seal on my heart. His love is stronger than death! God overcame the grave, He conquered death so that we might choose to live a life with Him.

The question for me, for you, is this: Are we choosing Him? Are we daily giving up our own will and asking God to take control?

His Encouragement: week #35

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Wait on the Lord;
be of good courage,
and He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the Lord!

Psalms 27:14

I don’t know about you, but waiting isn’t easy. We live in a fast-paced society. Dare I say, more often than not an “I wanted it yesterday,” mentality. We have become accustomed to having things quickly.

Have you ever noticed that things you have to work for, things that take time are almost always better? You appreciate them more and often they have greater meaning and significance.

Did you notice the next part of the verse? “He shall strengthen your heart.” God will help you wait! We just need to draw close to Him and to ask for his help!

God’s time is perfect. He promises to come alongside you and to give you strength. We are not alone. Take comfort in that dear friend, as you wait on Him.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

I have set the Lord always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Psalms 16:8

Another version of this same text from the NIV says:
“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With Him at my right hand, I shall not be shaken”

I’ll admit it, I was shaken early this week. I was looking at the new school year, and the super busy, super crazy schedule, and I was overwhelmed, thinking how in the world will I get all this done?!

Then that small voice whispered to my heart, and I realized that I had taken my eyes off of what really matters. I wasn’t giving it to God, I was trying to do it all myself.

May you remember that in His presence is fullness of joy! Give your burdens to God, keep your eyes on Him.

His Encouragement: week #33

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

The Lord will guide you always;
He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
Isaiah 58:11 (NIV)

There is so much promise and hope in this verse! God is our guide, He is our strength, He supplies our needs, and gives us more than enough!

If you are feeling lost, remember God is your guide! Pray and ask for His leading.

If you are feeling empty, like you’ve given everything you have and there is nothing left. Pray to God to refill you!

If you are feeling weak, and like you can’t go on, God has promised that He will satisfy your every need!

I think sometimes we forget. We move ahead of God. We step out, and think, I’ve got this one. Oh, dear one, we don’t really! On our own, we are weak.

Every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17)

It’s not anything we did. And it definitely isn’t what we deserve! But God! He loves us! He wants to be our guide, to be our strength and to supply our every need.

Take time to ask Him today, and everyday, every moment.

This song popped into my head as I was writing this post. I hope you enjoy it!
