His Encouragement: Biblical Inspiration for your Thursday (week #16)

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may
have peace. In the world you will have tribulation;
but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

In the verse, Jesus is talking to his disciples. He’s telling them of things to come, things they do not understand. He wants them to know that there will be trials and tribulations, but to remember that He has already overcome the world.

This message is in no less important to us today. There have been and will continue to be trials and tribulations. There will be things that we don’t understand. But God doesn’t want us to worry. He wants us to rest in the knowledge that He has already overcome the world. Victory belongs to God!

My friends, I don’t know what trials you may be facing today, or what tribulations lie in your future; but my prayer for you is that whatever may come, that you remember that God has already won! Give your burdens to Him, and rest. He’s already won the battle!

His Encouragement: Biblical Inspiration for your Thursday (week # 15)

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us,
that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world
does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been
revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed
we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.

1 John 3: 1 & 2

Right at first I’m reminded of the song I learned when I was young. Scripture set to music is a fantastic method for helping you remember Bible verses!

Digging deeper into this verse we see a reminder of God’s love for us. He didn’t love us because of anything we did. He bestowed His love on us, because He longs for us to belong to Him.

The world doesn’t understand His love, because it doesn’t see it in us. The world doesn’t see it in us, because we don’t always show God’s love like we should. Too often we have conditions to our love.

As a child of God, It is my prayer that God will help me show His love more fully to everyone He brings to cross my path.

His Encouragement: Biblical Inspiration for your Thursday (week #14)

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love
with which He Loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses,
made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved)

Ephesians 2: 4-5

When your child does something wrong it is fairly easy to forgive her. You love your child, you realize that even if she meant to hit her brother, even if she’s not sorry for doing it, you still love her.

It may not be as easy to forgive someone else who isn’t  your child, yet we are called to offer that same grace, and called to give that same love. The same grace and love that God extends to us.

When we look at the cross and see what God gave us, how can we offer anything less?

His Encouragement: Biblical Inspiration for your Thursday (week #13)

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;
and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding,
will guard your heart and minds through Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:6-7

At it’s most basic, prayer is talking to God. You don’t need big flashy, splashy prayers, written out ahead of time and checked for grammar. Just tell God what is on your heart.

Paul tells us in Romans 8:26 “For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.”

Take time today, to give the burden on your heart to God. When you find those pesky burdens have somehow made their way back into your hands, just give them back again, until they stay with God.

Rest in the knowledge that God will give you peace in return.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.
His understanding is unsearchable.

He gives power to the weak,
and to those who have no might He increases strength.

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

Isaiah 40: 28, 29 & 31

If you find yourself running empty, give your burdens to God. Wait for Him and He promises to renew your strength.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

The Lord your God in your midst;
The Mighty One, will save;
He will rejoice over you with gladness,
He will quiet you with His love,
He will rejoice over you with singing.

Zephaniah 3:17

I pray that this verse helps remind you that God love’s you, and that you are His precious child. Where ever you may be in your life, remember this one thing. “Jesus Loves Me”!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures:
He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil; For you are with me.
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever

Psalm 23

As a child I memorized this chapter and to this day it brings me comfort. Comfort to know that God is my protector and provider. Comfort to know that where ever I go He is with me, I have nothing to fear. And a promise for the future; a promise of living with God in his home forever!

Dear friends, my prayer for you today is that you may know this peace and have the assurance of God’s loving care for your present and your future.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways, “says the Lord.”

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are My ways higher than your ways,
and My thoughts higher than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55: 8 & 9

It isn’t always easy to understand why certain things happen. But this verse gives me peace. It is encouraging to know that God has a plan, and his plans are always for our good!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish;
neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.
My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all;
and no one is is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.
I and My Father are one.

John 10:27-30

It is such a comfort to know God hears me when I pray, that He knows me and that I am safe in the hands of God and that no one can remove me from His hands. This world can be a scary place, but I can rest knowing that I’m safe in God’s hands.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seeks its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things endures all things. Love never fails.

I Corinthians 13:4-8

On this day after Valentine’s Day, I thought it a good idea to look closely at the true definition of Love. As you read through this verse and think of how you show love to others do you see area’s in which maybe you could do better? We all fall short, but with God’s help we can show true love to those around us. Let that be our prayer today, that we show true love, to all of those that we come in contact with.
