His Encouragement: week #33

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

The Lord will guide you always;
He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land
and will strengthen your frame.
You will be a well-watered garden,
like a spring whose waters never fail.
Isaiah 58:11 (NIV)

There is so much promise and hope in this verse! God is our guide, He is our strength, He supplies our needs, and gives us more than enough!

If you are feeling lost, remember God is your guide! Pray and ask for His leading.

If you are feeling empty, like you’ve given everything you have and there is nothing left. Pray to God to refill you!

If you are feeling weak, and like you can’t go on, God has promised that He will satisfy your every need!

I think sometimes we forget. We move ahead of God. We step out, and think, I’ve got this one. Oh, dear one, we don’t really! On our own, we are weak.

Every good and perfect gift comes from God (James 1:17)

It’s not anything we did. And it definitely isn’t what we deserve! But God! He loves us! He wants to be our guide, to be our strength and to supply our every need.

Take time to ask Him today, and everyday, every moment.

This song popped into my head as I was writing this post. I hope you enjoy it!

His Encouragement: week #32

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The moon, and the stars, which You have ordained.
What is man that You are mindful of him,
And the son of man that You visit him?
Psalms 8:3-4

When you take a moment to look at the sky, the moon and the stars, how awesome is our God! He created all with just a word from his lips. And He didn’t stop at the sky! Take a walk in nature, and everything you see, and even some things you can’t see, God called into existence.

All things great and small, He created. Yet, God places man above all those other things. Our value to God is more important. His love for us is so very great! So much so that He came to this earth and died, so that we could live with Him forever.

Yesterday afternoon the doctor’s office called with the pathology report from the tumor removal. The pathology report showed only benign fibroadenomatoid cells (the hypercellular stroma cells that were present in the needle biopsy done in June were no longer present)! I’m praising God for his healing and his tender care!

The 8th chapter of Psalms ends with the following text, and what a wonderful praise to our Creator God!

“Oh Lord, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth!” Psalms 8:9

His Encouragement: week #31

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

I will praise the name of
God with a song,
And will magnify Him
with thanksgiving.

Psalms 69:30

We don’t often think about singing and praising God when we are walking through trials. However, that is just what Paul and Silas did. (read Acts 16:25-34) They were in chains in a dank, dark, and I’m fairly sure cold prison cell. They weren’t bemoaning their fate, nor were they complaining. They were singing praises to God! Wow! Talk about being a witness! If you took time to read you will notice that there was an earthquake, the chains fell off, the doors were opened, but they didn’t leave. They stayed and witnessed to the guard and he in turn became a follower of Christ!

Tomorrow morning I go in for surgery to remove a small tumor in my breast. If you remember from my earlier post, the original biopsy results were benign, but showed hyper-cells. They will preform a second pathology test on the entire tumor, and I should have the results late next week. I am praying that it is still benign!

Waiting hasn’t been easy. However, God has been walking this path with me, teaching me to trust and to rejoice in Him. It has been a time of trial and one of growth. But most importantly, a time when I’ve grown closer to God!

I pray that what ever trial you may be facing that you remember that you aren’t alone. God is with you! Pray, trust and praise the name of God with a song!

His Encouragement: week #30

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Waiting on the Lord isn’t always easy. Our society is always in a hurry. We have subconsciously been programmed to rush. Being in a hurry doesn’t help us at all. We often miss out on life’s most simple pleasures. We constantly cram more and more into our day until we are worn to a frazzle. At the end of the hectic day, we drop into bed and our minds are often still going so fast that it takes awhile to slow them down so we can fall asleep.

Thus, waiting for someone else to act, when we are so very inclined to take the proverbial bull by the horns and make things happen, is not only an act of faith but also a near impossible feat.

My friend, this is exactly what we are called to do. Wait on the Lord. This is the lesson that God has been teaching me this past week, and I wanted to share it with you.

The verse goes on to tell us, that our heart will rejoice in God because we have trusted in His holy name.

So, while you are waiting, there are two things you can do. Are you ready?

Two goals:
– Rejoycing
– Trust

It sounds simple enough. But we can’t do it alone. Take a moment in prayer, and ask God to help you wait. Ask Him to help you wait while rejoicing and also to wait while trusting in His perfect plan!

His Encouragement: week #29

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity and passing over
the transgression of the remnant of His heritage?
He does not retain His anger forever,
Because He delights in mercy.

He will again have compassion on us,
and will subdue our iniquities.
You will cast our sins into
the depths of the sea.

Micah 7:18-19

Many times we think that we have to earn God’s forgiveness. That we have to physically do something to correct the wrong that we did. But God has already forgiven us and all we have to do is believe it.

And not just believe that God loves us, but that we are lovable. Which if we are honest, isn’t always easy to do. But once you believe that, it makes sense that God is able to cast our sins into the depths of the sea.

Because you matter and you are worth that forgiveness and so much more.

His Encouragement: week # 28

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

And be kind to one another,
tenderhearted, forgiving one another,
even as God in Christ forgave you.
Ephesians 4:32

God is so very loving and kind. We don’t do anything to deserve his love. He gives it freely, over and over and over again.

It is such a beautiful example of how we should love one another.

For anyone who has regularly followed these Thursday posts you know that it has been a difficult summer so far. I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude to each of you for your kindness and your love that you have shared. You have been an encouragement. Thank you for letting your light shine!

His Encouragement: week #27

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you,
all who’s thoughts are fixed on you!

Trust in the Lord always, for the Lord God is the eternal rock.

Isaiah 26:3-4

Today, I’m claiming this promise and keeping my thoughts fixed on Jesus!

Tomorrow morning I will be meeting with the surgeon for the surgery consult and to schedule the date for the surgery. I’m praying that he can schedule the surgery soon, and that I don’t have to way too long to get this over with.

Once they take the tumor out, they will send it to pathology for testing. I’m praying that the benign results from the biopsy are the same results this time!

There are moments when fear sneaks in. But I keep praying and giving it to God. I know that He’s got this!

We all have difficult roads to walk. No one is without hardship or pain. That is the results of this sinful world we live in. But there is good news my friend! God has promised that we won’t walk the road alone. He promises to be with us every step of the way!

What ever hardship you may be walking, know that God is with you and you are not alone. Keep praying, keep spending time with Him. Draw close to God and He will draw close to you.

His Encouragement: week #26

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

I pray that these Thursday posts become an encouragement to you and help you end your week strong in God’s love and purpose for you. God bless!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

What ever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from
God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens.
He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.

James 1:17

It is all too easy to get discouraged and to miss the little blessings that we receive every day. Let’s face it, life can be hectic, and time seems to pass faster and faster.

It is so very important to slow down, to listen to the birds singing in the trees and enjoy a sunrise. Take a moment to enjoy listing to your child tell you about his/her day and embrace your family.

It is equally as important to take time to sit in a quiet spot, pray and be still. I am not saying that it’s easy! Because it’s not easy for us who are so accustomed to the fast pace of life to just be still in silence and listen for that still small voice. But if you take the time, He will meet you there!

My prayer for you today, is that you take the time to be still and just listen to the words that God wants to whisper on your heart.

His Encouragement: week # 25

Welcome to His Encouragement. I have joined with some blogging friends to bring you a new Bible verse every Thursday, and a little discussion of hope and encouragement. We welcome you to join the conversation by adding your daily verse of encouragement as well.

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty,

yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!

The Sovereign Lord is my strength!
He makes me as surefooted as a deer,
able to tread on the heights.

Habakkuk 3:17-19

Several weeks ago, at my annual physical my doctor called in an order for me to have a mammogram. I didn’t want to do it. I don’t have a family history of breast cancer, I’ve not felt any suspicious bumps, I argued. But, I was told I needed to get one anyway. “Think of it as a baseline.” So I went.

Then two days later I get a call… “we need you to come back in, we need to do an ultrasound to get a clearer idea.”

I admit I was a bit worried. But I thought, there is a family history of fibrocystic.  I told myself, that’s all it is. They just want to be sure. So I went back in and got the ultrasound.

I could see the screen and see what the technician was looking at. She started taking measurements. I thought, oh, that’s not good. Then the doctor comes in. She ran the ultra-scan machine and took more pictures.

The doctor then shows me the area on the screen that looked kinda like a flattened penny. The doctor said this is a tumor of some kind, but don’t be worried, it is most likely benign. We want to schedule you for a biopsy. The biopsy was scheduled for 11 days later.

Those were some very difficult days! I prayed, I cried, I prayed some more. The first couple of nights, I didn’t really sleep. I prayed. It was difficult to go to work and focus on everyday tasks, and so I prayed some more. When discouraging, fearful thoughts would creep in, I prayed some more.

God strengthened me and gave me the peace I needed. I gave Him my worries and fears and He held them for me.  I walked into the biopsy scared about what they were about to do, but knowing that no matter the results, God is holding me in His arms. He created me and has a plan for me and no matter the outcome of these tests, I know He has my future!

Yesterday, I received the news that the results are benign. However,  one sample showed hypercells which have the potential for growth. So I’m being referred to a surgeon to have the tumor removed. At this point, I have more questions than answers. I’m putting this all in God’s hands! I do not know the outcome, but God does! Even though I don’t know what will happen, I will praise God and rest in the knowledge that He holds me in the palm of His hand.

My dear friends, if you are facing the vast desert of the unknown, give it to the only one who knows the beginning from the end. God holds the future in His capable hands. He promises to never leave us. We can trust His promises!

Today’s Thursday Encouragement:

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness,
The power and the glory,
The victory and the majesty;
For all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours;
Yours is the kingdom, O Lord,
And you are exalted as head over all.

1 Chronicles 29:11

Sometimes (dare I say; “often times”) life surprises us.  A medical diagnosis that you didn’t see coming, a tragic accident where a life is ended. These things surprise us. But they don’t surprise God. He knows the beginning and the end.

So when life throws you a curve ball, don’t panic. Just daily walk with God and He will lead you trough the surprises.

I’m thankful that God is in control and that I don’t need to worry.
