Nicole (Sewing in SoCal #3) by Sarah Monzon

About this book:

Who has time to date when she’s trying to raise a miniature human by herself AND save the planet from its irresponsible inhabitants? Not to mention my winning personality (snort) and my curves-have-curves figure (eyeroll) don’t exactly attract the opposite sex. Unfortunately, none of these reasons have stopped my best friends and SoCal sewing sisters from taking on the archaic role of matchmakers, and they’re not beneath a little bribery if that’s what it takes to get my cooperation. Let’s just say everyone has their weak spot, and donations to my favourite charities is mine.

If I were to consider a romantic relationship, my dream guy certainly wouldn’t be immature, everything-is-a-game Dr. Drew Bauer. The man raises my body temperature faster than global warming does the Earth’s! But life seems determined to keep throwing us together, especially now that one of my SoCal sewing sisters is engaged to his best friend, in which case there can only be one of two outcomes:

1. I kill him in a fit of annoyance.

2. My common sense escapes me, and I fall in love with him.

Honestly, I’m not sure which would be worse.

My Thoughts:

If you enjoy romantic comedy with depth and lots of heart, then do yourself a favor and be sure to snag a copy of Author Sarah Monzon’s newest release Nicole. All of the stories in this collection are page-turning delight.

At first glance Nicole comes across as a zealous environmentalists, a serious, no non-sense kind of woman. As a single mother with a young daughter, she rarely lets her hair down to have fun. Honestly, the word fun isn’t even in her wheel-house. Nicole has a heart of gold and as the story progresses and Nicole’s heart softens even more.

Authentic and realistic these characters found their way into my heart. More than once I found myself talking to them, as if they could hear me. I laughed out loud on more several times, startling my family and garnering strange looks.

I especially appreciated the Biblical truths artfully sprinkled through the story and tucked not just into the lines, but into the very hearts of the characters. They not only lived Christian lives, but they had hidden in their hearts a light that shined out to others.

Far better than any Hallmark movie, this book is one you won’t want to pass up! I’m eagerly anticipating more delightful stories from Sarah Monzon!

Truth About Fame (Faith and Fortune #2) by Toni Shiloh

About the book:

My life has always been in the spotlight. Born to two famous parents and then quickly rising to “super” status in the modeling world ensured that I, Astoria “Tori” Bell, would always have my image plastered across newsstands. Unfortunately, adoring fans weren’t always magnanimous and now I have a stalker on my hands.

Oddly enough, the tall, dark, and all-too handsome bodyguard hired to protect me seems more harmful than the threatening notes from the stalker. As well as his plan to flush out the danger by proposing a fake engagement.

The lines between pretend and reality blur and I have to shore up my resolves. Baggage from my past means I can’t let myself be vulnerable. But the way Marcel Fox treats me has me thinking otherwise.

With a new rock on my finger and the man who put it there by my side, happily ever after seems like a possibility or is that as fake as my public persona?

My Thoughts:

This second book in the Faith and Fortune series has a little something for everyone! Suspense, Romance, Witty Banter, and Faith. I was delighted to spend time with Tori and Fox. More than once I held my breath, turning pages quickly to find out what would happen next. Simply put this story is breath-taking!

We all have struggles and things about ourselves to improve. Tori’s struggle is learning to forgive even when those from the past didn’t ask for forgiveness. As Tori discovers, the peace that is found when we let go of our hurt and bitterness and give it all to God is like shedding a bolder that you’ve been carrying with you for years.

I highly recommend this dynamic, engaging story. Pick up a copy to enjoy, you won’t be sorry!

The Trouble With Love (Faith and Fortune #1) by Toni Shiloh

About this book:

I, Holiday Brown, have it all. A platinum record. Multi-million dollar home in Manhattan that I share with my two best friends. Life is looking fantastic until my roommate’s brother decides to bunk in our guestroom while his house gets renovated.

W. Emmett Bell has always been the bane of my existence. He’s annoying, stubborn, a know it all, and just might be the most gorgeous man I’ve ever laid eyes on. But I refuse to fall for him. Then his sister’s threatened by a stalker and dynamics change. His unwavering faith isn’t quite as self-righteous as I’d always thought, and maybe he has a good side I’ve overlooked all these years.

Or maybe it’s all too much trouble.

My Thoughts:

What a delightful story! This story has something for everyone! Romance, mystery, laugher, fun, and music. There were fun moments of laughter and heart-stopping moments of surprise where I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. But most of all the love of God was woven into this story.

Toni Shiloh writes characters that are so real you are almost certain that you could bump into them walking down the street. Authentic, charming, and witty. It was a pure pleasure to sink into this story and join these characters.

I eagerly look forward to reading more in this new series as I’m certain that more excitement, romance and mystery await!

About the book:

Addi Merrick is a matchmaker with no match.
Her past is riddled with friends who married and left her behind. She’s stuck at a job she doesn’t love with a boss who can’t stand her to put herself through college, but there’s a reason God wants her at the right place, at the right time.

Drew Tanner was left at the altar and doesn’t believe in love.
It’s been a year since the woman of his dreams vanished into thin air on his wedding day. Since then, he’s avoided women like her, certain all quiet women were hiding something. Seeing Addi is like watching his past, and he wants no part of it.

When a dating site matches them, not only as a possible match but a perfect match, they must choose to either risk the pain of rejection or the beauty of a love match.

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed my time with these sweet characters. Author Kari Trumbo invites the reader right into the heart of Addie and Drew and I felt like I was an unwritten best friend character, privy to the secret thoughts, and wishing I could really sit down and have a heart to heart. I was thrilled when Liberty was introduced to the story and did just that. She seemed to take the very words that I wanted to say, right when they needed to be said.

Addie struggles with making ends meet and with feelings of not being good enough. She feels like she is aways looked over, invisible. But as her friend Liberty gently reminders her, that God made each of us for a specific purpose, and that we just need to wait on Him.

If you are looking for a sweet contemporary romance to enjoy, pick up a copy of Whole Latte Love, and a cup of coffee, settle into your favorite reading spot and prepare for a sigh-worthy experience.

Raising Honor (Colorado Grooms #5) by Jill Lynn

About this book:

She’s their first priority…

Could a shared love for little Honor
unite their reluctant hearts?

Nothing will stop Ryker Hayes from giving his neglected five-year-old niece the stable home he never had. But to gain custody, he must move to Colorado…and prove to Honor’s wary foster mother, Charlie Brightwood, he’s more than just responsible. As his visits with Honor and Charlie begin to feel more like family time, might Charlie become another reason to stick around for good?

My Thoughts:

I couldn’t put this book down. These characters grabbed ahold of my imagination and my heart and I just couldn’t possibly walk away. 5-year old Honor completely stole my heart. I wanted to reach inside the book and give her a big hug and then snuggle in for an epic story time.

I spent 5 years working in foster care. These children are near and dear to my heart. Author Jill Lynn did a fantastic job pulling the reader right into the heart of these children and families.

Ryker Hayes and Charlie Brightwood each have their own painful history, and like most of us that history effects the decisions they make. Learning to identify what that is and to rise above it knowing the truth of who they are is a testament to each of us. A reminder that we are fearfully and wonderfully made by our loving creator.

I enjoyed my time with these wonderful characters and look forward to reading more from Jill Lynn in the future.

The Trouble with Tulips by Emily Dana Botrous

About the book:

He prefers plants to people. She’s a black thumb. Can love bloom?
Kim is stagnating in her hometown, like a dying flower. When her mother asks her to create a flower garden to enter into a local competition, Kim decides it’ll be her last big hurrah before skipping town for a new start. But with her wilted gardening skills, she can’t pull it off alone, especially since her mom wants tulips. The only person who might be able to help is her brother’s best friend. Trouble is, she’s liked him for years despite his prickly personality, and he never noticed.

Jake has met with a lot of loss in life. The only thing he can keep alive is a plant. Besides his friend Dusty, Jake has no use for anyone, including God. So when Dusty’s sister asks him for help, he turns her down flat—until he realizes he needs her help, too. Trading tulips and time for business advice, Jake finds there’s more to Kim than he’s ever noticed before. Too bad the only way to keep her safe is to keep her out of his heart.

When things get weedy, Kim must decide whether to dig in her roots or move on. Can Jake trust that God is enough to bridge the distance between the pain in the past and the promise of the future?

My Thoughts:

This is the first book I’ve read by Emily Dana Botrous, and I really enjoyed this story. The characters are well developed, dynamic and relatable. They experience raw pain, and they are challenged and show growth through the progression of the story. The author seamless tucked in important nuggets of faith and encouragement, without coming across as preaching. It really gives the reader something to walk away with and digest further. The story continued to move forward at a good pace without any drawn out scenes, each one was carefully and methodically crafted. The descriptions were vivid and brought me into the story so that I felt like I was right there with the characters.

The writing was fantastic and I was pulled right into the story and kept there the entire time! I would happily read more stories from this author, and I encourage anyone who enjoys reading Christian Contemporary Fiction to pick up this book and give this author a try!

Take A Chance on Me (A Misty River Romance #0.5) by Becky Wade

About the book:

When baker Penelope Quinn steps in to help her brother’s family through a medical crisis, she’s forced into close proximity with charming Air Force fighter pilot Eli Price.

Penelope has one iron-clad dating rule—she does not date airmen. Months ago, she relaxed her rule with Eli and immediately lived to regret it. After a long deployment, he’s now back in Misty River and, to her dismay, she finds him just as tempting as always.

Eli’s spent months thinking about funny, feisty, creative Penelope. He once leveraged his focus and drive to become a pilot, his childhood dream. Now he’s set on leveraging that same focus and drive in order to convince Penelope to give him one more chance.

This romantic prequel novella introduces readers to the quaint mountain town of Misty River and a brand-new series from Christy-winning author Becky Wade!

My Thoughts:

Sweet as southern ice tea and as yummy as fresh peach pie, you will definitely want to Take a Chance on this swoony novella! Set in the small town of Misty river in the hazy hills of Northern Georgia. I felt like I was right there in the story with the characters.
